The Sema Sisters - Gunma doubles champions

Unseeded Japanese sisters, Erika & Yurika Sema had a very successful second half to May in which they reached successive doubles finals in Kurume, Nagano and now Gunma.

After some poor weather from Thursday to Saturday, which caused matches to be suspended and then postponed, the blue skies returned for the final day with the Sema sisters winning the title following a final set Champions Tie-Break victory over Chinese Taipei pair, Kai-Chen Chang & I-Hsuan Hwang.

The singles final was won by 4th seed Tomoko Yonemura who, in defeating 2nd seed Kumiko Iijima 60 63, claimed her 2nd singles title of the month.

Prior to the start of the tournament, a welcome party was held and players posed for a group photo with coaches, staff, officials and sponsors at the entrance of the official hotel prior to the party. During the party, the tournament supervisor introduced all the seeded players and as they lined up on a red carpet up on stage, one of the players got a closer than expected look at the carpet!
