Sanam Singh triumphs in India for second week

BHOPAL, INDIA: The capital city of the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India played host to its first ever Men’s International Tennis tournament. The Arera club was the host with its lush green surroundings and good infrastructure.

People here got to see some fantastic tennis over the week with some very close and long matches.

In the singles event Sanam Singh from India continued his good run from last week’s tournament at Chandigarh to claim back-to-back titles. On his way to final he defeated both his opponent from last week’s final and the top seed of the tournament. He ultimately conquered Japan’s Shuichi Sekiguchi 61 64.

The doubles final saw N Sriram Balaji and Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan, both from India, manage to edge past their close friends N Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Arun-Prakash Rajagopalan, also from India, 76(5) 36 [10-6].
