Party Rock Open - $50,000 Las Vegas 2012

The world of music and sport come together this week when the women’s ITF Pro Circuit tournament in Las Vegas, NV gets underway on Tuesday.

Players and fans alike will soon be Shufflin’ in Vegas as Redfoo, member of the hit music duo LMFAO, will be sponsoring the event with his Party Rock brand. This $50,000 tournament on the ITF Pro Circuit, which has been dubbed the ‘Party Rock Open’, will be held at the 3,000 capacity Amanda and Stacey Darling Memorial Tennis Center, a venue part owned by ATP Tour player Sam Querrey.

This outdoor hard court tournament, the only professional tennis tournament to be staged in Las Vegas in 2012, will feature a mix of the high quality tennis action synonymous with the ITF Pro Circuit worldwide and regular DJ sets throughout the week.

Redfoo, aka Stefan Gordy, is no stranger to tennis having grown up playing the sport competitively in Southern California and he expressed a desire to promote this tournament during a coaching session at Las Vegas’ The Cosmopolitan.

“I’m so excited to bring Party Rock to the world of tennis, my favourite sport,” Redfoo was quoted as saying in a press release. “Where better to do it than my favourite place to play? Las Vegas!”

The LMFAO singer, whose hits include 'Party Rock Anthem' and 'Sexy And I Know It', will not only be lending his brand to the title sponsorship but also his time as he looks to take an active role with plans to participate in a kids' day event on 23 September. Redfoo will be hosting the official players’ party and also pair up with a pro from the tournament in a special Pro-Am doubles event.

Over the years Las Vegas has welcomed a number of players to the city and current stars of the WTA Tour have appeared on the ITF Pro Circuit in Vegas in the past, most notably in 2007 when the singles title went to a then 17-year-old Caroline Wozniacki whilst the future 2012 Australian Open champion, Victoria Azarenka, claimed the doubles title.

Last year’s champion Romina Oprandi is not returning in 2012 but there are two former semifinalists already accepted into the singles main draw, Madison Brengle (2008) and Edina Gallovits-Hall (2010). Thirteen of the 22 direct acceptances into the main draw are set to make their first appearance in Las Vegas.

A stand-out player in the qualifying event is former WTA World No. 14 and 2002 US Open quarterfinalist Elena Bovina. In all, the tournament has attracted entrants from 18 players who have career-high WTA rankings within the Top 100.
