Miyazaki tournament starts on tsunami anniversary

2012 $10K Miyazaki - four players pose in front of the message to East Japan

One year on from the devastating tsunami and earthquake that hit East Japan, the $10,000 ITF Pro Circuit tournament in Miyazaki is underway.

Following the events of 2011 the tournament elected to press on and saw Kanae Hisami claim the singles title with Mari Inoue and Ayumi Oka taking the doubles title.

This year, Hisami returns as number two seed to defend her title.

Prior to the start of the qualifying matches players gathered together in prayer for East Japan.
