In its history spanning more than 100 years, the Texan City of Mansfield has grown from a rural, farming community into a suburban city of 50,000+ and for each year since 2006 has been the setting for a $15,000 Futures tournament on the ITF Men’s Circuit.

One player in particular has excelled in Mansfield, TX over the years and that is 19-year old Californian Michael McClune. In the tournament’s debut year, 2006, McClune contested his first ever singles Futures final, finishing as runner-up. In 2007, McClune, as fourth seed, again made it through to the final, this time winning the title despite losing the opening set on a tie break.

Just last week, McClune again returned to Mansfield, TX, this time as defending champion and by the end of the week an unseeded McClune found himself in the final once more. Another close final saw McClune successfully defend his 2007 title despite having to once more recover from being a set down.
