Seven players, five men and two women, achieved double title success on the ITF Pro Circuit during the w/c 20 August 2012.
Youngest of these winners were the two on the women’s circuit. The two players Sara Sorribes Tormo from Spain and Anett Kontaveit from Estonia, aged 15 and 16 respectively, both picked up their titles with convincing wins in both singles and doubles finals, although Sorribes Tormo did have to come from a set down in her singles final.
Kontaveit only allowed her opponent one game in each set of a two sets victory in the singles final in San Luis Potosi, Mexico whilst in the doubles final a 60 63 win over an all-American partnership secured that title.
For Sorribes Tormo, her triumph in winning the titles in Todi, Italy, gave her back-to-back double title success having also achieved this feat the previous week some 800km away in the southern Italian town of Locri. Amazingly the talented 15-year-old now already has three singles titles to her name on the ITF Pro Circuit having won her first back in March in Madrid.
Another player who was also winning both singles and doubles titles in the same week was 21-year-old Blaz Rola. His triumph in Croatia matched his 2010 effort in his home nation of Slovenia.
Youngest of the male winners was Max Dubarenco from Moldova, the 19-year old’s success in Romania also saw brought about a first singles title of his ITF Pro Circuit career.
