Daniel and Rogerio Dutra Da Silva
Just a week after meeting on court for the first time in their careers, the Dutra da Silva brothers found themselves on opposite sides of the court for a second successive singles final in Brazil.
The venue for this brother vs brother final was Cuiaba, the capital city of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, where temperatures are often above 40°C (104°F). Cuiaba is also the geographic centre of South America.
Rogerio, the elder of the two brothers, who defeated his brother Daniel in straight sets in last week's final, was this time pushed harder and the match went to three sets. Rogerio seemed to be on his way to another emphatic victory over his brother, Rogerio won last week's final 60 61, when he took the opening set to the loss of just one game.
Not wanting to to once again hand bragging rights to his brother, Daniel levelled the match when he forced the second set into a tie break which he won 7-2. Daniel though was not able to level the head-to-head record against his brother as the decisive third set of the final ended 60 in Rogerio's favour.
Both brothers have each played in nine Futures singles finals during their careers. Rogerio has now won the last seven Futures singles finals in which he has played. Daniel has five Futures singles titles to his name.
