Japan’s Kimiko Date-Krumm has, at the age of 37, won a third ITF Women’s Circuit singles title of her career.

This latest title success came at the $25,000 tournament held in Obihiro, Japan, where she was seeded 7th. En route to the final Kimiko defeated her doubles partner at the semi final stage for the second tournament running and despite rain causing the final to be suspended for 2 hours, Kimiko kept her concentration to wrap up a 63 76(5) victory over her opponent from Thailand.

In winning this title, Kimiko recorded her third straight singles title on the ITF’s Women’s Circuit and this latest title comes in her fourth singles final in 2008 which is remarkable given that Kimiko only returned to playing professional tennis at the end of April 2008!
