We've reached the midway point of the 2012 season so time to take a look at some statistics to come out of the second quarter of the year.

Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor from Spain was the most successful singles player during the three months with four singles titles. Leading male singles title winners were one win behind Torro-Flor with eight male players all claiming three singles title wins including Romanian Radu Albot who also won three titles in the opening quarter.

From this period of play there was an amazing 364 ITF Pro Circuit tournaments staged around the world, plenty of playing opportunity for players to earn those all important ATP/WTA ranking points. This tournament number can be broken down to 198 men's tournaments and 166 women's tournaments.

Looking at nations individually we find that a total of 50 nations provided tournament champions in men's singles events whilst 41 nations gave us women's singles champions.

Argentina and France each claimed 11 men's singles titles whilst Russian players collected 13 titles on the women's circuit.

Turning our attention to singles seeded players we find that during the three month spell they accounted for 67 per cent of the singles titles won by male players and 48 per cent of the female titles.

The most successful seed on both the men's and women's circuits was once again the number one seed. 33 singles titles were won by male top seeded players with 15 claiming women's titles although in this quarter it was very close in women's singles events with players seeded one, two, four, five, seven and eight all winning a close number of titles.
