The Olympic Tennis Event has been played at many venues, both indoor and outdoor, and on a variety of surfaces, from red clay and hard to grass and wood.
Tennis has not been ever-present at the Olympics. It ceased being played at Paris 1924 and then rejoined as a medal sport at Seoul 1988. In the mean time, it made a couple of appearances with demontrations and exhibitions, at Mexico 1968 and Los Angeles 1984.
