Germany’s doubles specialist Christopher Kas, 32, has pulled out of the Olympics through injury with Philipp Kohlschreiber stepping into his place to play with Philipp Petzschner.

Kas, who reached the doubles semifinals at Wimbledon last year with Austria’s Alexander Peya, was scheduled to make his Olympic debut at The All England Club.

Kohlschreiber, who is also an Olympic debutant, is now playing singles and doubles at London 2012.

The 28-year-old will be full of confidence after his best ever run at a Grand Slam a few weeks ago at Wimbledon, where he reached the quarterfinals before losing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Kohlschreiber and Petzschner are now the only German men playing in the Olympic Tennis Event, while there will be five German women in action.
