Marcos Baghdatis has played 37 Davis Cup ties for Cyprus since making his debut in 2000, but the former Australian Open runner-up, currently ranked No. 41 in the world, is yet to appear at the Olympic Games.....

What are you looking forward to most about the London Olympic Games?
A medal!

What do you think the atmosphere in London is going to be like?
Amazing. For me I think there will be a lot of Greek Cypriots there so it’s going to be amazing.

Are you looking forward to mixing with other athletes?
I would love to but the problem is Wimbledon is so far from the Olympic Village that I’m not sure I’ll stay there.

What’s your favourite Olympic memory?
Pyrros Dimas (weight lifting) winning the gold medal in Sydney. He was my hero at that time. He was kind of an idol to everybody in Cyprus and Greece.

What other Olympic sports will you try to see in London?
Track & Field if I have the time and maybe some basketball – Greece are very, very strong in basketball so I’d like to go and see them.

Who do you think will do well from Cyrpus?
We have a good high jumper called Kyriakos Ioannou who is in the best five in the world and in the shooting we have Georgios Achilleos who is No. 1 in skeet.
