The island of Gran Canaria, which forms part of the Canary Islands located off the coast of northwest Africa, will stage a $15,000+H prize money beach tennis event over 21-22 April.

The tournament returns to the Tour for a third year following two successful editions in 2016 and 2017.

Two-time champion Flaminia Daina will be looking for further tournament success as she returns with a new partner; Venezuelan Patricia Diaz currently ranked World No.10.

Other notable entries in the women's draw include, Federica Bacchetta and Giulia Gasparri of Italy who are currently in a three-way tie with Daina at the top of the rankings, the second seeded German-Brazilian duo Maraike Biglmaier and Rafaella Miiller and French sisters Marie-Eve and Mathilde Hoarau.

In the men's draw, last year's winners Luca Cramarossa and Marco Garavini return as the top seeds and will be looking to be crowned Champions once again.

Looking to dethrone the defending champs is local star Antomi Ramos-Viera who will be competing with Italian Mikael Alessi as the pair look for their first $15,000+H win of 2018 following on from their triumph at a tournament of the same category in Reunion last December.

Also in the hunt for the title will be the 2016 and 2017 World Champions Michele Cappelletti and Luca Carli. The pair will be looking to show off their credentials and establish themselves early on in the tournament as major title contenders whilst top Russian player Nikita Burmakin and his Italian partner Tommasso Giovannini will also be hungry for the win.

Giovannini has form at this level and recently claimed victory at the $15,000+H tournament in Salinas, Ecuador in March alongside his fellow countryman Andrea Stuto. In Gran Canaria Stuto will play with World No. 20 Marco Faccini.

Junior players falling into the 12 & Under and 14 & Under age group categories will have the chance to showcase their talents once again and give fans a glimpse at potential future heroes of the sport.

An ever popular stop on the Tour, Gran Canaria promises to deliver beach tennis action of the very highest calibre.
