The ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee has awarded wild cards to teams from six nations across the men’s, quad and junior events for the 2018 BNP Paribas World Team Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Apeldoorn, Netherlands on 28 May-3 June.

The award of these wild cards means that teams from a total of 23 countries are currently among the entries for the men’s, women’s, quad and junior competitions at the ITF’s flagship wheelchair tennis team event, which will be held in Netherlands for the fourth time.

With three of the four Regional Qualifications complete, a further wild card for the men’s event will be awarded after the BNP Paribas World Team Cup European Qualification due to be held in Vilamoura, Portugal next month.

As host nation, six-time champion Netherlands has been awarded a wild card for the men’s event.

After missing the 2017 BNP Paribas World Team Cup, 2016 champion Australia and South Africa are both awarded wild cards for the quad event.

Australia is also a former finalist in the junior event and has been awarded a wild card to contest the junior competition for the first time since 2011.

Former champions Great Britain and Netherlands are among the nations awarded wild cards for the junior event, as are Colombia and Turkey, the latter contesting the junior event for fifth time since 2010. Once again the junior competition is supported by the Cruyff Foundation

With teams from Argentina, Kenya and Korea, Republic having earned their places in the women’s event and teams from Japan, Morocco and USA having earned their places in the men’s event after the Regional Qualifications for Africa, the Americas and Asia, one European men’s team and one European women’s team will also earn qualification in Vilamoura, Portugal on 11-15 April.
