Argentina’s Sebastian Baez and Colombian Maria Camila Osorio Serrano will lead the boys’ and girls’ fields at this week’s Porto Alegre Junior Championships, taking place on 26 February-4 March.

Ranked at No. 8 and No. 6 in the world, respectively, Baez and Osorio Serrano come into the second junior Grade A tournament of the year in fine form on the junior circuit.

Sixteen-year-old Osorio Serrano is unbeaten in 2018 and has won four Grade 1 titles in a row – picking up the top prize at singles events in San Jose (Costa Rica), Barranquilla (Colombia), Lambare (Paraguay) and Criciuma (Brazil), amassing 21 consecutive wins in the process

Baez, meanwhile, also enters the tournament on the back of a successful week in Criciuma, having collected both the singles and doubles titles – defeating Tristan Boyer in straight sets in the singles final and combining with Clement Tabur to win the doubles.

The 17-year-old Buenos Aires native, a quarterfinalist at last year’s US Open, will see a stern challenge from second seed Nicolas Mejia, of Colombia, who has also collected both the singles and doubles titles at a Grade 1 clay tournament over the last month – doing so in Lambare a fortnight ago.
