The Open International des Brisants is back

News Article

SAINT GILLES LES BAINS, REUNION: The Tour will return to the Reunion's west coast in a couple of weeks to the Bourbon Brisants Beach Tennis club as the $15,000+H tournament returns for the second year running.

Before upgrading to a $15,000+H event in 2017, the tournament took place as a $10,000 tournament in 2016 and has been a regular event on the island in March since 2010.

In 2017, the atmospheric centre court saw nearly 1,000 spectators take their positions to watch the best of the beach action. This year, the tournament promises to be bigger and better than ever with additional seats available for the public and a fully enclosed centre court.

The venue will also boast a new PlayerZone featuring restaurant tables and event information as well as an opening ceremony, player's party, concerts and cultural exhibitions.

Last year's title winners and joint World No.1's Giulia Gasparri and Federica Bacchetta will be out to defend their women's doubles title and whoever is drawn to face them will have a real challenge on their hands after the duo won the tournament in 2017 without dropping a set.

World Championship winners of the past two years, Michele Cappelletti and Luca Carli, will also be looking to claim victory once again.

Also taking place is a non-prize money tournament running alongside the event, which was held in 2017 for the first time and will be open to those players who do not make the main draw of the prize money tournament.

Unable to attend in person? Then you'll be pleased to hear that live streaming will be offered on Saturday and Sunday via the club's Facebook page and live scoring will be accessible via the FFT App.

If you are in attendance in Reunion we'd love to see your photos which you can share with other beach tennis enthusiasts via our official social media accounts.
