Colombian Fed Cup player Maria Fernanda Herazo Gonzalez is our featured female player for November.

The 20-year-old began her campaign with two tournaments in her homeland, where she also achieved a career first, before bringing the month to a close in Ecuador.

In the opening tournament, which was held in Pereira, Herazo Gonzalez came away with both the singles and doubles titles. This was the first time in her pro career that she had completed such a tournament double.

Having won the doubles title alongside Emily Appleton of Great Britain, the duo returned to the court the following day but on opposing sides of the net to battle it out for the singles title.

As could have been expected with the two players very familiar with each other’s game, the singles final was closely contested and a 75 75 scoreline gave the Colombian that career first.

A second singles title was won the following weekend in a more comfortable fashion with Herazo Gonzalez posting a 62 62 win over America’s Anastasia Nefedova.

The month was wrapped up with yet another convincing win as Herazo claimed her fourth singles title of 2017 with a 63 60 defeat of Guatemala’s Kirsten-Andrea Weedon.
