This week sees the publication of theĀ 2018 Rules of Tennis and the list of ITF Approved Tennis Balls for the 2018 calendar year.

There have been relatively few changes to the Rules for 2018:

- Appendix IX (Suggestions on how to mark out a court). A reduction of the recommended minimum ceiling height.

- Appendix V (Alternative procedures and scoring methods). Following successful trials during 2016 and 2017 conducted by the Lawn Tennis Association and Tennis Australia, the Rules have been amended to permit a number of scoring methods to enable a range of formats to be played to facilitate shorter matches.

The 2018 Rules of Tennis are available to download in .pdf format, with a flip-book version being published early next year.

The ITF Technical Centre has published the list of balls that are approved for use in tournaments played according to the Rules for the 2018 calendar year.

The listing is available to view on the ITF Technical website here, and as more balls are tested and receive ITF Approval, they will be added to the list.
