European and World Champions, Federica Bacchetta and Giulia Gasparri, look back on their win at the $35,000+H Aruba Beach Tennis Open over 17-19 November.

For Bacchetta, it was not the first time that she had become victorious in Aruba, having won a non-ITF Tour tournament at Mooba beach in 2009: "It was a very small [tournament]. I heard a lot about the new location and I decided to come last year but I lost during the quarterfinal"

This year she decided to come with her new partner Gasparri, "After an amazing season together we wanted to finish that with the happy ending but three weekends before the tournament I had an injury and until last week I didn't know if I could play or not!"

Fortunately, Bacchetta recovered from her injury and was able to play.

Gasparri reflected upon the tournament and its memorable atmostphere; "This is the first year that I won this tournament and the thrill of winning here in Aruba is comparable to Cervia and the World Championships."

"I couldn't imagine that in other side of the world I could feel the same warmth of the audience" Bachetta added.

For Bachetta and Gasparri, the ITF Beach Tennis Tour 2017 ends here.

"We have to plan all the new season but until March for sure we don't play. We have to work a lot now" explained Bachetta.

However, the pair will continue to play together in 2018 Gasparri assures: "We are together starting to look at the schedule so we can already plan some trips."

Bacchetta was full of praise for the the tournament organisation saying it was perfect. "You created an atmosphere so amazing for playing and for making a party!"

Gasparri ended by again drawing a comparison to the World Championships, not only for the tournament's organisation but for "the high participation of strong couples in the draw."
