Following on from the recent confirmation of the nation’s being represented in the 2017 Pan American Championships, the player nominations have now been released for the pro events.

The Championships, which get underway Friday in Aruba, are the fifth to be held and all four previous editions have seen players from Brazil dominate.

2016 men’s champion Ralff Abreu will be in contention to retain his title won alongside Diogo Carneiro but this year sees him teaming up with Vinicius Font, himself a champion in 2016 with Joana Cortez in the mixed-doubles event.

Cortez also returns and will be aiming for a fourth consecutiJoana Cortez (BRA)ve mixed-doubles title alongside Font and will again be playing alongside Rafaella Miiller as they look to mount a defence of their women's title.

Should Cortez triumph in the women's event it will further extend her impressive record at these Championships which has seen her lifting the trophy in each of the previous years.

This year welcomes a new nation to the Championships. Newcomers Bonaire will be solely represented in just the men’s event by Jan and Mark Wachtmeester who will both be looking to make an immediate impression, and could spring some surprises as an unknown quantity, in their beach tennis debuts in ITF competition.
