During the final month before his 19th birthday, French player Elliot Benchetrit won the first singles titles of his pro career whilst competing in Hammamet, Tunisia.

In his first outing of the month, Benchetrit reached his second career doubles final and, alongside Rudolf Molleker, added to his previous success during July in Morocco.

The following day he took on his German partner with the singles title at stake. Having lost his only previous two singles finals earlier in the year, Benchetrit, who had not dropped a set all week, secured a maiden singles title when Molleker retired from the match with the Frenchman leading 64 2-0.

A second consecutive doubles title evaded him the following week where another run to the final alongside a German partner, this time Louis Wessels, ended in a 64 64 loss to Italian second seeds Filippo Baldi and Mirko Cutuli.

Benchetrit did however add another singles title to his resume where he overcame Luca Giacomini, a lucky loser entrant, 64 62 to round off another week of singles action on the ITF Pro Circuit without loss of a set.

In the week leading up to his birthday he moved onto Italy to take part in the Rome Challenger.  Despite a final round loss in qualifying he progressed into the main draw as a lucky loser but made a second round exit.

To help get his birthday celebrations off to a great start on 2 October, the ATP rankings released that morning showed he had climbed to a new career high of 456 and will now surely have an eye on breaking into the Top 400 before the end of the year.
