German Jan Choinski has competed in five singles finals in his homeland since making his first final appearance in 2014 and has finished as the runner-up on each occasion. This month though saw him finally break that run as he reeled off three title wins in successive weeks during August.

The 21-year-old began the month in Essen where, as sixth seed, he raced through the opening three rounds dropping just 10 games in total to reach the semifinals.  Here things got a whole lot tougher and he found himself having to come from behind to win in three sets before going on to claim the title with a close 64 76(5) defeat of eighth seed Daniel Dutra Da Silva from Brazil.

A second title came the following week in Wetzlar and the young German seventh seed had to fight hard in each round and eventually took the title with a 75 76(1) win over compatriot Elmar Ejupovic.

The hat trick was completed in Karlsruhe where he was named as the number two seed.  Choinski moved through the rounds posting consecutive straight sets victories culminating in a final against Hungarian Mate Valkusz which he took 62 64.

These titles ensured that Choinski would end the month at a new career high ATP singles ranking of 330.
