A new $35,000+H tournament will take place on 28-30 September in Guayaquil, Ecuador and is set to be one of the highlights of the 2017 ITF Beach Tennis Tour.

So far confirmed to enter are a host of some of the top beach tennis stars including World No. 1's Michele Cappelletti and Flaminia Daina and former top-ranked player and current world No. 5 Alessandro Calbucci.

Brazilians, currently ranked No. 11 and 12 respectively, Marcus Ferreira and Vinicius Font, plan on making the trip across South America to attend.

Home support is likely to rally around local star Andres Cabezas who represented Ecuador at the recent World Team Championship in Moscow, helping them to a respectable 11th place finish, and will be looking to make a name for himself on home turf.

Also set to compete is former world No. 6 on the ATP Tour, Nicolas Lapentti, who is sure to add star quality to the mix. Lapentti, who reached the semifinals at the 1999 Australian Open and the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2002 during an impressive tennis career, will be looking to prove himself on the sand following his first-ever beach tennis tournament in October last year.

The tournament will be held at the River Beach Tennis club in Guayaquil which boasts six match courts.

"We are making a great effort to make this tournament very special for players so that they will want it to return each year - our idea is to have the tournament for as long as we can," said Carolina Lapentti, sister of Nicolas and part of the River Beach Tennis team.

The tournament will not only feature some excellent beach tennis as players will get a chance to fit in some sightseeing as an opening ceremony will be held at La Perla, one of Guayaquil's top attractions.
