Brazil’s men’s team emulated the women’s team by triumphing over USA on the final day of the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Americas Qualification in Quito.

Brazil will now contest both the men’s World Group and the women’s World Group at the 2017 BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Sardinia in May.

With Meirycoll Duval and Natalia Mayara having already beaten Argentina in the women’s decider earlier in the week, Rafael Medeiros and Daniel Rodrigues completed a 2-0 victory over USA after both singles rubbers of the men’s final.

Medeiros gave Brazil the best of starts, beating Chris Herman 60 61 before Daniel Rodrigues put the final beyond USA when defeating Casey Ratzlaff 62 62. With bad weather threatening in Quito the doubles rubber was not played.

Chile finished third after a 2-0 win over Colombia, with Ecuador finishing fifth after beating Cuba 2-0.

Brazil’s men will now contest the BNP Paribas World Team Cup finals for the 22nd time, while Brazil’s women will contest the women’s World Group for the sixth time.

With three regional qualification events completed, the BNP Paribas World Team Cup European Qualification will take place in Portugal on 21-25 March.
