INGELHEIM, GERMANY: Reigning World Champions and current joint-world No. 1s Federica Bacchetta, 28, and Sofia Cimatti, 22, won the women's doubles title at the Grade 2 event in Ingelheim on 6-7 June.

The duo won an all-Italian contest by beating Camilla Ponti, 22, and Veronica Visani, 24, for the loss of just four games, all of which came in the opening set in a 64 60 victory.

In the semifinals the two teams had eased past the German teams Carina Blank and Lisa-Marie Buerkle and Dorothee Berreth and Monika Keller, respectively.

Italian pair Luca Cramarossa, 22, and Matteo Marighella, 35, the tournament favourites, won the first edition of the frubiase Beach Tennis Open in Ingelheim/Rhein.

In a spectacular final they beat Russian Nikita Burmakin, 26, and Alex Mingozzi, 33, of Italy in two tiebreakers 76(5) 76(3). Both finalists had some difficulties in their semifinals, where Cramarossa and Marighella recovered from a set down to defeat their fellow countrymen Maurizio Di Cori and Andrea Penza 36 62 61 whilst Burmakin and Mingozzi overcame a fightback from Teo Casadei and Marco Faccini to triumph 63 26 63.

The Grade 2 tournament, featuring prize money of 5,000 Euros was part of the ITF Beach Tennis Tour 2015 and of the DTB Beach Tennis Circuit. Teams from eight countries participated.

The organisers from Beachclub2010 and TC Boehringer had perfect beach weather over the span of four days, when they also were responsible for a Grade 4 tournament and a Beach Tennis Academy led by Alex Mingozzi on Thursday.

Nils Muschiol and Benjamin Ringlstetter won the Grade 4 title in the Men’s Doubles event in a dominant display against Benjamin Blank and Tobias Notter 60 60, while Carina Blank and Lisa-Marie Burkle saw off the challenge of Dorothee Berreth and Monika Keller 75 63.
