Nepal hosts ITF/OS beginner and intermediate players course

The OS/ITF Coaching beginner and intermediate players course was successfully completed by a total of 23 participants on the 9th of June 2014, in Nepal.

The course was conducted by Suresh Sonachalam, ITF expert, assisted by local coaches Mr. Sharad Lama and Mr. Krishna.

Mr. Sharad Lama and Mr. Krishna were a big help during translations, demonstrations and technical explanations. Participants showed a lot of progress during the course and were keen to make the relevant changes to their teaching styles and to help increase tennis participation in their nations.

Many topics in relation to coaching beginner and intermediate tennis players were covered over the 12-day period, including teaching methodology, communication skills, feeding, growth and development of tennis players and knowing yourself as a coach.

The candidates had several opportunities to practice with children from the eighth day onwards, in both individual and in group settings.

The Olympic committee of Nepal organised a formal certificate distribution ceremony and dinner at the new Olympic committee building of Nepal on the last day.

The function was presided over by Mr. Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, the President of the Nepal Olympic Committee. The function was also attended by the presidents of other sports associations and they praised the efforts of the ITF and its experts, for bringing the latest teaching methodologies and sports science to Nepal.
