The Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying event came to a close with Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei adding to the list of qualified countries for the Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Finals on 23-28 September in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Japan and Korea were fighting it out for first place in a closely fought tie. It was one rubber a piece going into the deciding doubles, where Japan came through in straight sets to take the top spot.
Hong Kong overpowered Chinese Taipei to claim 3rd place, with straight set wins in the singles rubbers. Unfortunately rain and injuries hampered any attempts to play the doubles.
The above four nations will be going to the Finals in Mexico will be joined by Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia, who confirmed their places at the South America Qualifying last week.
Action continues this week in Kuching with the Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying event. As with the boys’ event there are four places up for grabs at the Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals in Mexico. Play gets underway on Monday.
