In the ITF World Junior Tennis boys' event both qualifiers were decided after the singles rubbers as top seeds Lebanon and fourth seeds Kazakhstan raced to straight set victories in the singles to book their places at the Final Qualifying event in New Delhi, India on 21-26 April. Kazakhstan's Rodiom Pak drew first blood for the fourth seeds without dropping a game when he raced to victory against Syria's Rebee Sleem in just 40 minutes. Kazakhstan will face Lebanon in tomorrow's fight for first place.
The upset of the day came in the ITF World Junior Tennis girls' event as top seeds Malaysia failed to qualify as they were beaten in the deciding doubles by second seeds singapore. The second seeds outlasted the hosts as Charmaine Sean and Maxime Ng (SIN) rallied to a 61 63 win over Suhana Sofia Mohd Adam Das and Sharifah Elysia Wan Abdul Rahman (MAS), in just over two hours. This win sees Singapore book a place at the Final Qualifying in New Delhi, India on 28 April - 3 May. They will be joined by third seeds Kyrgyzstan who swept aside unseeded Turkmenistan, confirming their place in India after thw two singles rubbers. Ermeka Nurgazieva and Eliza Akarova (KYG) both dropped just one game against their respective oponents to seal victory for the third seeds.
The Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas is being played in round robin format with the two seeds, Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka, continuing to dominate. Both teams are yet to drop a set going into the final day of competition and will both be assured a place at the Final Qualifying event in Kuching, Malaysia on 5-10 May. They will face off tomorrow in a battle for the top spot.
