An interview, courtesy of LanzaroteDeportiva.com, with Claudia Giovine, the singles champion of last week at the $10,000 tournament in Tinajo, Lanzarote, Spain.
Congratulations Claudia, It has been a good tournament.
I had to play my best and put in all the hard work I am doing at the moment. I am very happy because the people who love me are always nearby and they help me believe in my chances. I want to play better in every match and seek new objectives.
At the first ITF Lanzarote tournament you showed a very good level of play, but you couldn’t claim the title. At this second tournament, you have finally got it! What can we expect in the third week?
Hopefully the result in the next tournament will be exactly the same. It would be perfect! I was really angry with myself because I played very bad in the quarterfinals of the first tournament so I have tried to translate my feelings onto the court in each match of this second week. Each day when I got up I had the feeling I could give more; that has helped me reach the final.
At this ITF Lanzarote II you had a tough draw, facing seeds 2, 3 and 8, does victory taste better?
I don’t look at my opponents’ rankings. To me we are all the same, that’s why you must seize the opportunity to win. I am hoping to play at my best level throughout the entire year.
You are showing a great level of play. Is this the best Claudia Giovine yet?
We are still a long way away until everyone gets to know the true Claudia Giovine.
