The Grade 1 tournament being staged in Thailand in the post-Christmas pre-New Year period of 28-30 December 2013 has announced an increase in prize money.

Previously, a $20,000 prize money pot was on offer and now this has grown to a record high for a Grade 1 tournament of $22,500, surpassing the recent record set in Aruba by $1,000.

Considering beach tennis is arriving in Thailand for the first time as part of the ITF Beach Tennis Tour, this gives a clear statement of intent to establish the sport in the nation and indeed the Asian region.

Those lucky enough to be attending may also be interested to know that this tournament in Hua Hin is being held in conjunction with their annual World Tennis Exhibition which this year is set to feature stars from the WTA Tour Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka.
