Teen Talk - Katerina Stewart (USA)

By Sandra Harwitt

American Katerina Stewart was born to play tennis, there’s no question about that. Her father, Caesar, is the tennis director at Coral Gables Country Club and operates Next Level Tennis, which is home base for a number of top level contenders in the sport. Her mother, Marina Andreoni played tennis for Argentina, and now is the tennis coach at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Fla.

The 16-year-old is playing the lead position for the USA Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas team and the team came out of the round-robin portion of the tournament with a perfect 3-0 score. Stewart has a 2-1 record in singles this week, losing a tough match against sixth-seeded France’s Margot Yerolymos, who won 76(1) 75. Currently ranked No. 242, Stewart spent her day off - the USA was directly into the Junior Fed Cup semifinals - watching the USA Junior Davis Cup team play their matches.
