The ITF are saddened to hear of the death of Mr Neville Halligan of Australia who passed away recently.
Mr Halligan was a regular on the ITF Seniors Circuit until as recently as 2012. He represented Australia 16 times between 1992 and 2011 was awarded an OAM for his services to Seniors Tennis. He also won three consecutive World Individual Championship singles titles, alongside three doubles titles.
The Individual titles he won were in the Over 85 age category in 2008 (Antalya, Turkey), 2009 (Perth, Australia) and 2010 (Antalya, Turkey). He captured his doubles titles with three different partners. His first came in 2003 in the Over 80 category with Frank Pitt (AUS), in Antalya, Turkey. His other doubles titles came in the Over 85 category; in 2009 with Frank Thomas (AUS) and 2010 Wilhelm Papst (AUT).
Mentally alert to the end, he was interested in the results of the Australians playing in the Super Senior World event which finished just last week in Austria and the Czech Republic.
All at the ITF send their condolences to family and friends at this sad time.
