France have finished third and fourth in the last two ITF Beach Tennis World Team Championship’s and as the sport of beach tennis continues to grow in France, the nation will proudly host its first ever Grade 1 tournament from 13 to 15 September in Carnon!

The event will take place on the beach named "Le Petit Travers", a very popular natural beach in Languedoc Roussillon, in the south of the country, only 10mins from Montpellier.

The event is organised by a new beach indoor club in Montpellier called "The Factory Beach" (open since June in the city), with the support of the municipality of Carnon and of course the French Tennis Federation.

For this tournament the beach will be transformed as five courts and a further two practice courts will be created along with music and lighting set ups.

The main draw will start on Saturday with a scheduled Sunday finish, with the champions presentation ceremony. Ahead of the main draw though will be a qualification and mixed doubles events; these will start on Friday afternoon.

Complementing the on court action, the tournament will also see some concerts taking place on the beach, all adding to the great atmosphere generated at beach tennis tournaments.

In the event of bad weather (which is very rare at this period of the year) the tournament will move from the beach location and to Montpellier at "the Factory beach" indoor facility.

The week following (22-23 September), another beach tennis tournament, Grade 3, will take place 5km away in the city of La Grande Motte.

So don't miss the chance to spend some time and have fun in this beautiful part of France whilst taking in some top quality beach tennis action!
