The draw took place on Tuesday afternoon for the 5th Open Memorial Santi Silvas, an ITF 2 Series tournament on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour, in Olot, Spain, hosted by ITF Wheelchair Tennis Ambassador Tommy Robredo and his Foundation.

The tournament made its debut on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour in 2008, when the Fundacio Tommy Robredo first organised the event in memory of Spanish wheelchair tennis player Santi Silvas, a friend of Robredo’s from their childhood. The tournament takes place in their home town of Olot.

This year Sweden’s Stefan Olsson will again bid to maintain his unbeaten record at the tournament, having won the men’s singles for the last four years.

However, this year’s event has one of its strongest ever fields and world No. 9 Olsson is the third seed, behind world No. 5 Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina and Joachim Gerard of Belgium, who attained his career high singles ranking of No. 6 earlier this week.

The late withdrawal of world No. 3 and last week’s Roland Garros runner-up Jiske Griffioen, due to injury, leaves Dutch world No. 1 Aniek van Koot, the 2009 champion and 2010 runner-up in Olot, as the favourite in the women’s singles. Van Koot will contest a round-robin draw alongside Spain’s Lola Ochoa, Chile’s Macarena Cabrillana and Pauline Helouin of France.
