Defending champions head Junior Masters entries

2012 Cruyff Foundation Junior Masters girls' singles finalists Angelica Bernal (COL) and Shelby Baron (USA)

Defending champions Alfie Hewett (GBR) and Angelica Bernal (COL) are among the entries for the 2013 Cruyff Foundation Junior Masters which take place in Tarbes, France on 24-27 January.

Hewett, who is No. 3 on the ITF Wheelchair Junior rankings, is the highest-ranked player in the eight-strong boys’ event which also features world No. 5 Gift Lekhanye (RSA), runner-up in the boys’ event at the International Cruyff Foundation Junior Camp for Africa, and world No. 6 Nico Langmann (AUT).

Chris Herman (USA), champion of the boys’ singles at the International Cruyff Foundation Junior Camp for the Americas, was awarded a wild card into the round-robin event which runs alongside the last four days of the Les Petits As tournament.

World No. 4 Bernal heads the girls’ event and is joined by wild card Mariska Venter (RSA), winner of the International Cruyff Foundation Junior Camp for Europe. Britain’s Lauren Jones and Netherlands’ Diede de Groot, the world No’s 5 and 6 respectively, complete the four-woman field.

Entries are based on the Cruyff Foundation Junior Ranking dated 29 October 2012, seven players in the boys’ event and three players in the girls’ event have qualified directly by ranking, with one wild card awarded for both events. To be eligible for the event players must be aged under 18 on 1 January 2013.
