The draw for the 2012 Invacare Doubles Masters took place on Tuesday evening at the Frans Otten Stadium in Amsterdam ahead of the start of the year-end championship for the world’s top wheelchair tennis doubles partnerships on Wednesday.

The draw took place in the presence of representatives from title sponsor Invacare, the Province of North Amsterdam, the KNLTB and the ITF.

ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee Member Christo Kok on behalf of the ITF and KNLTB, Agnes Riquelme on behalf of Invacare and Nanou Beekman on behalf of the Province of North Holland all gave short welcomes to the players, coaches and officials before Invacare Doubles Masters Referee Javier Moreno and ITF Wheelchair Tennis Manager Mark Bullock made the draw.

Top seeds Michael Jeremiasz of France and Stefan Olsson of Sweden were drawn alongside Stephane Houdet of France and Shingo Kunieda of Japan in Pool 1 of the men’s doubles.

 Martin Legner of Austria and Nicolas Peifer of France and the all-French pairing of Dalmasso and Lahcen Majdi were also drawn in Pool 1, with Jeremiasz and Olsson set to play Legner and Peifer in Wednesday’s first of three days of round-robin matches.  

Second seeds Gordon Reid of Great Britain and Ronald Vink of the Netherland are joined in Pool 2 of the men’s doubles by Dutch duo Tom Egberink and Maikel Scheffers. Reid and Vink will play Frederic Cattaneo of France and Joachim-Gerard of Belgium in their opening Pool 2 match, while Egberink and Scheffers will play Poland’s Tadeusz Kruszelnicki and McCarroll of Great Britain.

London 2012 women’s doubles silver medallists and 2011 Invacare Doubles Masters runners-up Jiske Griffioen and Aniek van Koot will play Kgohatso Montjane of South Africa and two-time Doubles Masts champion Sharon Walraven of the Netherlands in Pool 1 of the women’s doubles, as well as Katharina Kruger of Germany and  Great Britain’s Jordanne Whiley.

Marjolein Buis of the Netherlands, one half of the Dutch team that won gold in the women’s doubles at the London 2012 Paralympics, and Invacare Doubles Masters debutante Louise Hunt of Great Britain are drawn in women’s Pool 2 alongside Sabine Ellerbrock of Germany and Yui Kamiji of Japan and Lucy Shuker of Great Britain and Annick Sevenans and Belgium, who is playing her last tournament at this week’s Invacare Doubles Masters before retiring from competition.

With all four partnerships playing each other in the round-robin phase of the quad doubles top seeds and defending champions Nick Taylor and David Wagner of USA play Sweden's Anders Hard and Marcus Jonsson on Wednesday’s first day of play.
