The World Junior Tennis competition, the International Team Competition for players aged 14 & Under, was started by the ITF in 1991. The Final was held in Japan every year until 1998, before moving to Prostejov, Czech Republic the following year. Cesky Telecom has sponsored the Final since 1999.

The Finals of the World Junior Tennis Competition 2007 were held in the Czech Republic for the ninth consecutive year at the TK Plus Centre, Prostejov.

The event took place from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 August. Australia were the champions on the boys' side, while USA claimed the girls' title.

12 nations were nominated to take part in the first event, with Czechoslovakia girls and Spain boys emerging as the overall winners. 1992 saw the start of five regional qualifying events, which saw the top 16 boys’ and girls’ teams qualify for the final.

Over the past ten years, the USA and Great Britain have won the boys’ event twice, while Russia are four-time winners of the girls’ final.

A number of the past participants have already begun to make their mark on the ATP and WTA Tours.

Lleyton Hewitt, who helped Australia win the 1999 Davis Cup, competed twice in the boys’ event, earning a bronze medal in 1995. Tommy Haas represented Germany in 1992, while former ITF World Junior Champion Arnaud Di Pasquale led France to victory in 1993.

Among the girls, Amelie Mauresmo was a member of the French team in 1993, while Kim Clijsters made three consecutive appearances for Belgium between 1995-97.
