Host nation Myanmar successful at Pre-Qualifying
ITF Junior Team Competition kicked off in Yangon, Myanmar last week where the Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifying event for the Junior Davis Cup & Junior Fed Cup, as well as the World Junior Tennis Competition for boys and girls was played.
It was the first time in the region that a Pre-Qualifying event was held in all age categories for boys and girls.

In the Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas pre-qualifying Malaysia, Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka qualified as first, second and third of the round robin group of four to go to the Final Qualifying in Shepparton, Australia on 15-20 April. In the Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, Uzbekistan, together with second placed Pakistan and third placed Myanmar out of a total of 7 teams are promoted to the Final Qualifying event.

Host nation Myanmar proved particularly successful in the 14& under age category. They won the first ever pre-qualifying event in Asia/Oceania for the girls’ World Junior Tennis Competition, and will be travelling to the Final Qualifying event in Kuching, Malaysia on 11-16 May together with runner up Singapore and third placed Sri Lanka. Myanmar also won the boys 14&under event ahead of Singapore and Sri Lanka who all progress to the Final Qualifying event in Kuching on 05-10 May.
