| Day 4 at the Osaka Mayor's Cup |
The top seeds continued to dominate as the quarter finals got underway today in day 4 of the Osaka Mayor's Cup.
The boys' event saw the number one seed Yuki Bhambri (IND) defeat Hiroyasu Eharu (JPN) in straight sets, however it wasn't all plain-sailing after a shaky start in the first set. The final result was 76 (6) 61. He will now face the number four seed Marin Draganja (CRO), who saw off 11th seed Liang-Chi Huang (TPE) in straight sets to secure his place in the semi-finals. The biggest upset of the day was by Shuichi Sekiguchi (JPN), the only unseeded player to remain in the tournament. He overcame the 16th seed Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA) in straight sets to continue on to the semi-finals where he will meet the second seed Hiroki Moriya (JPN).
The girls' event saw three of the top four seeds qualify for the semi-finals. First seed Kurumi Nara (JPN) defeated Ajla Tomljanovic (CRO) in straight sets 76 (5) 62. This sets up a semi-final against the eighth seed Zarina Diyas who saw off the third seed Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) 62 64. Maho Kowase (JPN), the only unseeded player to have reached the quarter-finals saw her dream run come to an end at the Osaka Mayor's Cup as she lost to fourth seed Aki Yamasoto (JPN) 46 46. Yamasoto will face the number two seed Ana Bogdan (ROU) in the semi-finals.
