31 Aug 2008 - US Open, New York
US Open blog
SUNDAY

So guys last day and I'm so happy. I made it and I feel a lot better now. Faye has been following me the whole week so finally she's free, but I'm sad to lose her!

After a few hours I have to take a plane to Madrid and I am playing on Tuesday!

So last match in juniors and my last blog and from now on I'll be playing pro tournaments so I hoped you enjoyed reading my blog and I hope to see you again in the main draw next year.

I'm just waiting to go and get my trophy on Arthur Ashe stadium which is pretty cool. I can check out the court for when I play there next year ...;-)

So I wish you all good luck and good blogging. Thanks everyone, peace. wim V us (that's my new logo, get it, Wimbledon 2 US Open, you know a logo like David Beckham!) Only joking!

Bye
G-Force!

SATURDAY

So where are we so far, last day tomorrow and I can't wait to relax. I'm going to Madrid for a tournament when I leave New York.

But today my favourite weather, rain, arrived and bought me luck. We played indoors and I played top seed Tsung-Hua Yang but I wasn't worried at all. I've never played yang before but I know his game and he can play really good so I tried to get him down fast and easy like in the first set. But he showed some good stuff back in the second set and I had to fight for another set.

I was 2-0 down in the third but I wsa still pretty confident and thats why I came up with 6 straight games in a row. Now I'm on the bus heading back to the hotel to relax and lets see whats going to happen tomorrow.....

FRIDAY

So Day 6, boring day, nothing special to report… oh, by the way I won my match and now I am in the semis. But tomorrow is a hurricane day, so it’s going to be good for me because you know I like the rain!

The match was ok, both of us didn’t play so good, there was a lot of wind and we couldn’t hit our shots the way that we wanted to but it’s fine, I came through 64 63.

I’m going to chill and listen to some music now, probably some Lil Wayne, no practice this afternoon.

So I’ll let you know tomorrow what happens when the hurricane hits town!

THURSDAY

Sorry guys, I missed you yesterday because I had a day off, so I ran away from you, ha ha!

Not really, I’ll fill you in on what I did yesterday. I practiced in the morning and then I headed into the city with my mum to do some shopping. I went to Macys which is a huge department store with 8 floors, it took me a while to get around! I only bought one pair of shorts, so I’ll have to try another day, there are quite a few shops to choose from here!

After shopping I came back to site to practice again. Last night I headed back to the hotel but I was too late for my favourite show Monk.

So today I played my 3rd match against Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador. It was pretty strange at the beginning, but I played solid. The guy was hitting some pretty nice shots but I was able to answer everything and I won 63 64.

After the match I went for some lunch and then I did a photo shoot, that was good fun. We went to the Unisphere just outside the site, and I even went for a bit of a swim. Check out the photos, do you think I make a good model???? I could get a job next week at Fashion Week!

I am going to hit some more balls now. See you tomorrow…

TUESDAY

So today I had to wait around a long time to play my match. I came on site around 10.30. I watched the beginning of some of the matches then I practiced for about 35 minutes.

After practice I had some lunch, ravioli with about ten kilos of chicken so it was more like eating chicken with sauce than pasta with chicken.

I went on court around 3pm this afternoon and I was done by 4.10pm. The first set score was 75, I didn’t play too good because I got some bad news just before the match so I found it difficult to focus. But I managed to get my head together in the second set and won the match 75 61.

It was difficult but I had to get through it because that’s life. Sorry I don’t have any jokes for you today because I’m feeling a bit sad, but don’t worry, I’m still here and I’ll be back tomorrow.

MONDAY

Today, Day 2, G-Force is back with the headline of how he is going to win the US Open ......just joking!!!

So first match, easy to say it was good, I didn't expect that from myself but I've been here a couple of days and got used to the tournament, so I started pretty strong. Today was goddamn warm! Lucky I played early but it was still like a sauna out there. The score was 62 62 and I was playing pretty good. I'm pleased with that because he's a good player.

After the match I had to come straight off of court and do an interview for you guys on the ITF site and do the blog. Then I'm going to take a shower, stretch, have some lunch. The food is perfect here. After that I speak with my coaches anout the match then I'll hit some more balls this afernoon.

At tournaments you have a lot of time hanging around so I chat alot on the internet, I like to listen to music, mostly hip hop. I also like to watch the TV. I've been watching a series called Monk over the internet. He is the dumbest guy ever but really funny. Now I'm in the US I can watch it for real. I don't want to watch more tennis on tv! Well maybe sometimes...

One thing that is good about being here in the US is the ice cream! I'm loving the Ben & Jerrys, expecially the caramel and cookies flavour. Later I might have something else to eat but I can't tell you about that as it's unprofessional.....

See you tomorrow

SUNDAY

Hi I’m Grigor Dimitrov, I’m going to be the blogger this week and set you up with the new stuff!

Last time you heard from me would have been when I won Junior Wimbledon. Well since then I’ve been having a nice time on vacation at the seaside in Bulgaria, I won’t tell you for how long!

I arrived in New York a couple of days ago. This is my second time in New York, I really like it. The people, the atmosphere are great, but I can’t have too much fun because I’m trying to prepare for the tournament.

I play my first match tomorrow against Julien Obry a French guy. I’ve never played him before but I’ll try to do a good job and we’ll see how it goes.

I’ve been practising with some good players since I got here, Verdasco, Donald Young so I’m feeling good. I can’t blog for too long today, I’ve got to rush off because I’m going to practise now, this time with a girl………! But it is Daniela Hantuchova!! Ha ha!

See you tomorrow

Grigor
