Tomic & Ramirez Close in on Final
As the remainder of the seeds continued to struggle and the Wild Cards continued to upset the odds and delight the crowds, Bernard Tomic and Cesar Ramirez, the top two seeds in the boys event both put in assured and controlled performances to advance into the quartfinals.

Tomic (AUS) faced Vasek Pospisil (CAN) in his third round match and whilst the Canadian pushed the top seed to a tie break in the first set, he was unable to capitalise on his position of early parity. Tomic clinched the tie-break and the first set before claiming the second in more authoritative fashion, winning through to the quarterfinals 76(2) 64.

Meanwhile, in the bottom half of the draw, second seed Cesar Ramirez made light work of Qualifier David Souto (VEN) with a 62 61 victory and will face another South American, Guido Pella (ARG) in his quarterfinal.

The only other seed to make the quarterfinal is thirteenth seed Henrique Cunha (BRA), who defeated Andrew Thomas (AUS) 64 62. Alessandro Giannessi (ITA), who had captivated the audiences on day two as he defeated seventh seed Marcus Willis (GBR), faced a seeded opponent for the second consecutive round, in the form of twelfth seed Jaan Frederick Brunken (GER). Once again Giannessi upset the odds and delighted the crowds with an accomplished performance, winning 63 62 to set up a quarterfinal with Henrique Cunha (BRA). On another day peppered wiith rain delays the only other third round match completed was Tennys Sandgrens win over another Italian Wild Card Federico Gaio, 64 63.

In the girls singles, Nastassja Burnett (ITA) thrilled the home crowd with a 76(1) 61 victory over eighth seed Jessy Rompies (INA). Rompies was the sole seeded player left in the final quarter of the draw, which will now see Burnett face Valeriya Solovieiva for a place in the semifinal.

Meanwhile, Simona Halep (ROU) won her all seeded third round tie against sixth seed Ksenia Lykina (RUS) 76(3) 63 and she will face fourth seed Kurumi Nara (JPN).

Third seed and favourite Bojana Jovanovski (SRB) made her way to the quarterfinal after the retirement of her opponent Romana Tabakova (SVK) in the second set of a match that she was alreayd well on the way to winning. She will face Laura Robson (GBR). Fifth seed and Elena Bogdan (ROU) defeated a difficult opponent in Sandra Zaniewska (POL), who pushed the fifth seed to three sets, and she will now face LInda Berlinecke (GER) in the quarterfinal after she dispatched Italian Wild Card Roxana Vaideanu 16 61 61.

In the doubles events, the boys top seeds Henrique Cunha (BRA) & Cesar Ramirez (MEX) successfully navigated their first round match againd David Souto (VEN) & Cristobal Saavedra Corbolan (CHI) whils tte girls top seeds are yet to play after a frist round bye and rain delays preventing them playing their second round match.
