| Grade A Events 2008: Casablanca Cup |
The first Grade A tournament of the 2008 ITF Junior Circuit calendar kicks off in Mexico. Players will be looking to get an early advantage in the rankings to boost their progress on the 2008 Circuit.
Henrique Cunha from Brazil will be leading the boy's field. Cunha finished the 2007 Circuit strongly, finishing runner up to Junior World Champion Ricardas Berankis at the Yucatan Cup. The Brazilian reached the semis last year so will be looking for a good performance this year to maintain his points levels.
Cunha's closest rival will be Mexico's home favorite Cesar Ramirez. Ramirez also lost to Berankis at the Yucatan Cup and lost in the first round of last year's Casablanca Cup so he will be desperate to make a better impression at home this year.
The girls' draw is headed by Belgium's Tamaryn Hendler. Hendler has proved she is in good form by taking the title at the Yucatan Cup and will be hoping to push her ranking up into the top ten. Eleana Chernyakova from Russia will be the other main contender.
All competitors will not only be playing for the title but also the Wild Cards on offer at Pro tournaments in Mexico:
Winner (boy) Wild Card for Main Draw of $35,000 Challenger in Mexico City, week of 14 April 2008 Winner (girl)Wild Card for Main Draw of $25,000 ITF Womens Circuit event in Mexico City, week of 20 October 2008
