Trevisan and Pivovarova take debut Grade A titles in Milan
Italian Matteo Trevisan won his home Grade A at the Italian Junior Open in Milan to the delight on the Italian fans whilst Russian’s Anastasia Pivovarova secured the girls singles title.

Trevisan extended his winning streak to sixteen matches after beating France’s Stephane Piro 57 62 61 in the final in Milan. The Italian, seeded fourth, benefited from the early demise of the top seed Fernando Romboli from Brazil, who fell in the first round to Macedonian Ilija Martinoski 61 60. Trevisan took full advantage, coming through a tricky three setter in the third round against Janez Semrajc from Slovenia 16 64 61, before seeing off USA’s Rhyne Williams in the quarters followed by Portugal’s Gastao Elias in the semis.

Trevisan’s winning streak appears to have come just at the right time as he has now firmly established himself as one of the favourites for the Roland Garros Junior Championships, which begin on Sunday 3rd June.

Russia’s Anastasia Pivovarova was in great form on route to her first Grade A title in Milan with victory over Serbia’s Bojana Jovanovski 64 62 in the final. Top seed Pivovarova had to overcome a tricky match in the third round to overcome Australia’s Jessica Moore 76 26 62 but following that had little trouble dispatching Irina-Camelia Begu from Romania 62 61 in the quarters and Italy’s Roxana Andre Vaideanu 62 60 in the semis. Jovanovksi was responsible for the demise of the second seed Ksenia Pervak in an enthralling third round match which ended 36 75 64.

Trevisan will take over at the top of the boys rankingsand Pivovarova will move up to No.2 in the girls' ITF Junior Rankings this week giving them a well deserved boost before heading to Paris.

The boys’ doubles titles in Milan went to the Dutch pairing of Roy Bruggeling and Thomas Schoorel with a 76 75 victory over Slovak/Czech pair Alijaz Bedene and Jan Blecha. Slovakians Kristina Kucova and Klaudia Boczova took the girls’ doubles title defeating fellow Slovak Lenka Jurikova and Czech partner Andrea Berkova 75 63 in the final.
