| Eddie Herr finalists out of Orange Bowl |
Success last week at the Eddie Herr appears to have taken its toll on Urszula Radwanska and Sorana Cirstea, who both went out in the round of 16 at the Orange Bowl. Eddie Herr winner Radwanska was beaten by Russia's Anastasia Pivovarova, who took her revenge for a semifinal defeat to the Pole last week. Pivovarova made short work of Radwanska this week, sending her packing 62 62. The prize for the Russian's win will be a match up against No.2 seed Ksenia Milevskaya from Belarus who saw off wild card Mallory Burdette 61 61 to secure her quarterfinal place.
Eddie Herr runner-up, Romania's Sorana Cirstea, also could not maintain her form, suffering a 75 75 defeat to Nikola Hofmanova from Austria. Another seed to go out at the round of 16 stage was No.16 seed Oksana Kalashnikova from Georgia, who was defeated by Petra Martic 61 62. Home hopes are still alive in the girls' draw with Julia Cohen, seeded four, and Madison Brengle, seeded 12 both making it through to the quarters.
In the boys' draw there were no major upsets with the top two seeds Nicolas Santas and Donald Young progressing untroubled. One seed to fall was India's Rupesh Roy, seeded 14, who went out at the hands of Canada's Peter Polansky 57 62 60. Brennan Boyajian is the only other non seeded player through to the quarters; he saw off fellow qualifier Pedro Zerbini from Brazil to secure his place. His prize - a match against No.1 seed Nicolas Santos.
