| 2006 World Junior Tennis Competition Finals |
The final round of European Summer Cups have determined over the weekend the European qualifiers for the World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostejov, Czech Republic, on 7-12 August. The Summer Cups act as the qualifying round for the European region, with five nations in both the boys’ and girls’ events bidding to join the Czech Republic, who qualified automatically as hosts of the Finals. In the boys’ competition, third seeds Russia defeated Germany 2-1 to win the Copa Del Sol title in Totana, Spain. Spain, Hungary and Italy also booked their ticket for the Finals. The Europa Cup for girls took place in Sanremo, Italy, where unseeded France beat second seed Poland 3-0 in the final. The three other girls’ teams to qualify were Ukraine, Russia and the Netherlands.
