| World Junior Tennis Final - Day 5 |
Final placings for the mid-table positions were decided today, as eight teams played thier last events in this year's competition.
In the boys' event, Japan claimed 5th position with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Belgium. Chinese Taipei won the deciding doubles match over Russia to finish 7th. Third seeds Brazil have had a disappointing tournament, and ended up 9th after beating Czech Republic 2-1, the doubles also making the difference. The final boys' match was between Ecuador and Korea, which the South Americans won 2-1 after victory in both singles to finish 11th.
The Chinese girls' team finished 5th after beating Czech Republic 2-1. It was the same scoreline in the match between Australia and Ukraine, the antipodeans claiming 7th spot. The USA girls cruised past Mexico 3-0, to finish 9th, and in the day's other tie Germany beat Peru 3-0, without dropping a set to finish 11th.
Tomorrow sees the final matches at the top and bottom of the scale. Argentina will face France in the boy's final while the girls from top seed Russia will take on Japan.
