Wozniacki and Jun Triumph In Japan
Woong-Sun Jun and Caroline Wozniacki were the toast of Osaka as they took the singles’ titles at the Grade A Mayor’s Cup World Super Junior Championships in Japan’s second city.

Denmark’s Wozniacki again underlined her considerable potential with another convincing victory over a higher-ranked player as she defeated Slovak Dominika Cibulkova in the final

Both girls were appearing in their first Grade A final, so a good start was important to quell any nerves. Once Wozniacki had achieved this and pocketed the first set, she showed no respite to her opponent and quickly added the second set for a 63 60 victory.

Wozniacki and Cibulkova will now approach the top twenty in the ITF Junior rankings as a result of their successes this week.

Jun stepped onto court to face his fellow-Korean Sun-Yong Kim, having lost his five previous matches against his younger opponent. He got his bid for a first Grade A title off to a great start as he took the first set 61.

Kim put up much stronger resistance in the second and forced it into a tiebreak but Jun was not to be denied and took the tiebreak by seven points to four. The champion will earn a top five ranking following his triumph.
