Finals line ups confirmed
The Spanish clay court specialists, Nico Almagro and Daniel Gimeno Traver both easily claimed their spots in the boys’ final in Milan while a surprise in the girls’ final saw the No.1 seed ousted by Katerina Bohmova.

Almagro, top seed at this years event had no problem dispatching his French opponent Julien Gely in straight sets 63 64. The unseeded French boy put up a good fight but his best efforts could not stop Almagro claiming his final place.

Fellow Spaniard, Daniel Gimeno Traver continues his unbelievable unbeaten run, which has already seen him claim five ITF junior titles. Luis Flores his Mexican opponent did not have the weapons to stop Gimeno reaching his sixth successive final, and his first Grade A final in straight sets 62 64.

The final should be an interesting affair for the two Spaniards and friends who were both members of the same team that competed at the ITF World Youth Cup 2001.

The girls’ semis provided the shock that was lacking in the boys, Katerina Bohmova of Czech Republic ousted No.1 seed and current world ranked No.1 Vera Douchevina from Russia 63 62.

In the final Bohmova will meet the in form youngster Michaela Krajicek who saw off a tough challenge from Ukrainian Viktoria Kutuzova. Both sets were extremely close fought but Krajicek proved the stronger of the two, emerging the victor 75 64 to claim her space in the final.

The doubles finals were decided with titles going to Novak Djokovic and Victor Troiki (YUG) in the boys, who defeated Jerome Becker and Sebastian Rieschik (GER) 62 46 61.

The girls’ title was claimed by No.1 seeds Jarmila Gajdosava (SVK) and Andrea Hlavackova after they defeated Shahar Peer (ISR) and Agnes Szatmari (ROM) 60 67 62.
