Official Ball Supplier - Wilson 7. FORMAT OF PLAY The World Junior Tennis Final will be played on a round robin basis with placement of teams from 1st to 16th place for both boys' and girls' events. Each tie will consist of 2 singles and 1 doubles rubber. The doubles rubber must be completed even if a 2-0 scoreline is obtained, unless otherwise decided by the Referee. Each nation will play 5 ties. Each team is required to stay throughout the competition and compete in all consolation matches scheduled. 8. WITHDRAWALS National Associations are reminded that any team which fails to play all its matches, including consolation or placement ties, in the Regional Qualifying Round or in the final stages of the Competition; or withdraws from the final stages of the Competition after having qualified for them, shall have its entry refused for the following year’s Competition and shall be fined. This fine shall be four (4) times the amount the ITF contributes per team to the organising National Association of the Regional Qualifying Rounds. In the case of a natural disaster, the Junior Competitions Committee may resolve by a two-thirds majority that no penalty be imposed. 9. HOSPITALITY From Saturday 09 August teams will be accommodated at the Hotel Tennis Club and Hotel Grand and hospitality will consist of: - Triple rooms for players and single rooms for captains. - Meals beginning with dinner on Saturday 09 August and ending with breakfast on Sunday 17August. Hospitality outside the dates specified above will be provided and paid for only if this is as a result of flight availability. Meals will be buffet style and all teams are requested to clear their tables after use. Early arrivals are requested to take all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at the Indoor Tennis Hall, TK Prostejov. The organisers will provide appropriate meal vouchers. 10. DAILY TRANSPORTATION FOR TEAMS For ease of travel to and from the tennis site, all teams at the Hotel Grand will be provided with transportation on a daily basis according to the transportation schedule provided. Any extra persons staying at the Hotel Avion will be provided with transportation between the hotel and the site from Saturday 09 August, according to the transportation schedule provided. Any person(s) and/or team(s) failing to take the transportation provided shall be responsible for their own taxi costs as necessary. 11. ELIGIBILITY The ITF Junior Competitions Committee is responsible for the acceptance of teams into the draw of the World Junior Tennis Final. 12. PASSPORTS All captains are requested to submit team passports, including that of the captain, to the ITF Office on Sunday 10 August and certainly by no later than the First Captains’ Meeting. Hotels will retain the passports of the team captains and these will be returned upon payment of the final bill. 13. TRAVEL - RECONFIRMATION OF AIR TICKETS All air tickets must be reconfirmed. ITF staff will be pleased to assist captains. 14. CREDENTIALS All players and captains will be issued with a personal identification badge. These badges must be worn at all times. 15. WEEKLY PROGRAMME Please see the attached Programme of Events giving further information regarding meals, official functions, etc. 16. CAPTAINS' MEETING All captains are requested to attend the First Captains' Meeting on Sunday 10 August, to be held at the Hotel Tennis Club, TK Prostejov at 19:00. Further captains' meetings will be arranged as necessary on-site following completion of each day's schedule. 17. THE DRAW The Draw will be held on Sunday 10 August at 20:00 in the TK Prostejov Tennis Restaurant. The Welcome Party hosted by TK Plus and the City of Prostejov will immediately follow this. 18. WELCOME PARTY A Welcome Party, hosted by TK Plus and the City of Prostejov, will be held in the TK Prostejov Tennis Restaurant on Sunday 10 August at 20:00, immediately following the Draw Ceremony. National tracksuits or smart casual wear are recommended. 19. OPENING CEREMONY The Opening Ceremony will take place on Centre Court on Monday 11 August at 10:00. All teams, including captains, are requested to be present at Centre Court, wearing national team tracksuits by NO LATER THAN 09:00. A photo session will be held on Centre Court before the opening ceremony. Details of the Ceremony will be distributed to all captains on Sunday 10 August. 20. BBQ PARTY A BBQ Party, hosted by TK Plus, will be held on Thursday 14 August at 19:00 at the beautiful Plumlov Dam holiday resort. Dress casual. 21. FAREWELL PARTY A Farewell Party and Disco, hosted by TK Plus, will be held on Saturday 16 August from 19:30. The venue for this function has yet to be decided. Dress casual. 22. OFFICIAL BALL Wilson Double Core tennis balls will be used. Three balls will be allocated per match, these to be changed after the first 11 games and thereafter following each 13 games. 23. SCHEDULE\COURTS Play will start at 10:00 daily, with the exception of Monday 11 August when play will commence at 11:00 (after the Opening Ceremony). Matches will be played at TK Prostejov and nearby courts. The schedule of play for matches will be issued daily by the Referee and will be posted in the ITF Tournament Office. 24. COURT OFFICIALS\BALL PERSONS Every match will have one chair umpire. For the semi-finals and finals in the Main Draw additional linespersons will be provided. At least one ball person will be provided for each match. 25. PRACTICE Practice courts will be available from Sunday 10 August and will be allocated to teams dependent upon their arrival times. Details of practice court allocation will be posted at the hotel reception on Sunday 11 August and in the ITF and Referee's offices on-site thereafter. Practice courts will be available free of charge for use by teams arriving before 09 August. 26. PRACTICE BALLS 8 new practice balls will be issued to each team captain on arrival on Saturday 09 August. These balls will be used for the first day (Sunday 10 August). Additional practice balls may be purchased at a cost of US$5 per 4 balls on the early arrival days. 27. RULE CHANGE "No-Ad" System of Scoring It has been decided NOT TO continue with the "No-Ad" system of scoring at the Finals of the 2003 World Junior Tennis Competition. The ITF will ensure that the Referee is suitably briefed. National Associations must ensure that their team captains and players are aware of this rule change. 28. TIE-BREAK The tie-break system will be used in each set except in the main draw where in the third set a normal advantage set will be played. However, the tie-break system will be used in the third set of a doubles main draw match that does not affect the result of the tie. In consolation ties, the tie-break system will be used in all three sets. There will be no rest after the second set. 29. SCOREBOARDS Scoreboards will be provided on all courts and players are requested to operate these during matches, with the exception of the semi-finals and the finals of Main Draw. 30. RESULTS These will be prepared at the end of each day's play and can be collected from the Hotel Reception. Results will be faxed and/or emailed to all participating National Associations on a daily basis by the ITF. Also, daily results will be available on the ITF Junior Website at www.itfjuniors.com. 31. TROPHIES AND MEDALS Trophies and medals will be presented to the boys' and girls' teams during the Closing Ceremony to be held on Saturday 16 August, immediately following completion of the final match. Full details of the procedure for the Closing Ceremony will be distributed later in the week. 32. TOWELS Six towels will be issued to each team at the start of the competition. These towels should be used on court throughout the week and it will be the responsibility of each team to wash them. Towels may be washed each day free of charge at the hotel laundry. All hotel laundry should be handed in at the Hotel Tennis Club reception. 33. LAUNDRY A laundry service will be available for teams’ use at the Hotel Tennis Club. A special rate of 1.00 Euro or $3.00 has been agreed for tennis kit (skirt/shorts, shirt and socks). All laundry should be handed in at the Hotel Tennis Club reception. 34. WATER Water will be provided on each court. 35. PLAYERS’ LOUNGE – CLUB The Players’ Lounge will be located in the Tennis Restaurant. Teams will have use of video games, internet, bowling and billiards. 36. LOCKER ROOMS Locker rooms and showers are available at the club for players’ use. 37. STRINGING SERVICE A racket stringing service is available at the Club (both sites) throughout the week. The stringing service will be located next to the Players Lounge at the main site and in the Clubhouse at the second site. This service will be available at a cost of 10 Euros/US$13.00/300 Czk (labour charge). 38. FIRST AID A doctor will be available on-site from Sunday 10 to Saturday 16 August inclusive. A doctor will also be on call 24 hours a day. During competition times, the doctor will be located in the administration building of TK Prostejov. Outside competition times, a captain should contact the reception desk in the hotel. Nations must have private medical insurance in the event of requiring hospital treatment. 39. LEISURE FACILITIES Massage is available on-site at a cost of 10 Euros / US$13.00 per 30-minute session. There is a fitness centre situated a short distance from TK Prostejov which may also be used at a cost of 1 Euro. 40. VALUABLES Each player and captain must take full responsibility for the care of his/her own valuables and personal belongings. 41. EXTRAS All extras including laundry, telephone bill, telex\fax, room service, additional beverages, etc., will be charged to the room, and all bills should be cleared before departure on Sunday 17 August by the relevant captain. At this point, the Team Captain's passports will be returned to him/her. Room mini-bars and telephones will be available in the captains’ rooms only. The Organisers will provide ample refreshments free of charge during the week of the Competition. Team captains can collect refreshments from the Players Lounge and Restaurant.
