Stephan Koenigsfest’s family heritage is diverse with his father coming from Germany, his mother being an American from New York City, and his being born in La Paz, Bolivia, where the family resides.
The Bolivians ended the round-robin portion of the Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas with a 1-2 score, losing to sixth-seeded Australia and fourth-seeded USA 3-0, but won their encounter over the Netherlands 2-1 on Wednesday.
Instrumental to the victory on Wednesday, the 15-year-old Koenigsfest won his match against Casper Bonapart 64 57 64. In fact, that was his first ITF-level match win of the year, but he’s only played five matches of that caliber in 2013. His schedule at home just doesn’t allow for him to travel to many tournaments. But next year, the youngster who not only speaks Spanish but a very respectable English and German, might be in position to play more often as he told Teen Talk.
